Learning that moves with the learner.

OSEDU is a student-led learning platform. Practice meets each student at their next skill, not their grade label, while parents stay in the loop on everything.

What OSEDU is

Track mastered skills, not seat time.

School software usually sorts learners by age and moves them by the calendar. OSEDU maps skills and the prerequisites between them, so a student can be ahead in reading and still shore up fractions, without either one holding the other back.

Skills, not grades

Progress is measured by what a student can actually do. A grade label is never the whole story.

Student-led

Students choose their subjects, skills, goals and challenge level. Parents start everything and stay in the loop.

Free & open

Open-source and designed to be self-hostable, so families and communities can inspect the code and choose where it runs.

How it works

Find the next step. Practice it. Prove it.

Every answer is evidence, and every piece of evidence shapes what comes next.

Adaptive placement

Placement starts at grade 3. It steps up after a right answer and down to prerequisites after a miss, to find exactly where a student is.

A personal frontier

Each subject ends with a map: what’s demonstrated, what’s ready next, and what needs a prerequisite first.

Adaptive practice

Practice walks a prerequisite graph of skills. A miss leads back to the missing step; a strength moves the student forward.

Mastery tracking

Skills count as mastered on evidence, and students revisit them later so what they learn sticks.

For students

Your learning. Your pace. Your goals.

  • Pick your challenge level onceIt sticks, so every session starts where you want it.
  • Streaks, badges and goalsSet a weekly target, keep your streak going and earn badges as you go.
  • No timers, low pressureTake your time. A “not yet” is just a pointer to the next useful step.
  • See the whole mapKnow what you’ve mastered, what’s ready next, and where you’re headed.
For parents

Students drive. You see everything.

  • You start everythingCreate the household, add each student and authorize them yourself.
  • Full oversightSee progress, goals, streaks and all activity for every student.
  • Nothing leaves the family without your OKAny sharing outside the family waits in your approval queue.
  • Cheer them onSend cheers and answer help requests: a supporter, not a supervisor.

Why it’s different

Built around the learner, not the institution.

A real map of skills

Skills connect through their prerequisites, so a gap is found and fixed at its root instead of papered over.

Broad standards coverage

Placement and practice blend the learning standards of many US states, rather than following a single curriculum.

Private by design

Sign-in uses passkeys, not passwords. Learner records stay with the family, and the code is open to inspect.

Reviewed content

Lessons and questions are written ahead of time and reviewed. AI helps evaluate answers and choose the next step; it doesn’t make up lessons on the fly.

Engagement without pressure

Streaks, badges and goals keep students coming back. No time limits, ever.

Free and open source

A shared foundation that families, educators and communities can use, inspect and build on.

Where we’re headed

A free, private path to a recognized credential.

The long-term goal is to carry any learner to a high-school credential, starting with the GED, with a finish line they choose. We’re building it carefully, one subject at a time, starting with math.
